MUSIC BY THE BOOK

In the composition of "Main stream"
contemporary music eg:
PopRock,    R&B,    Alternative
writers tend to utilize basic concepts in both
Chordal arrangement and melodic vocal
progression.

This is the C major scale
it is two Tetra chords
who assend in this manor
~ = hole step ^ = half step
# = sharp d = flat * = Dim + = Augmented

C ~ D ~ E ^ F ~ G ~ A ~ B ^ C
do   ra   me   fa   so   la   ti   do

These inversions of the scale are all C major
but when played in the key of the root of each
scale wach what happens

                        1   2   3   4   5   6   7   8
C Ionian. . . . . C~D~E^F~G~A~B^C  =  C major
D Dorian.. . . . D~E^F~G~A~B^C~D  =  D d3 d7
E Phygian. . . . E^F~G~A~B^C~D~E  =  E d2 d3 d6 d7
F Lydian. . . . . F~G~A~B^C~D~E^F  =  F #4
G Mixolydian G~A~B^C~D~E^F~G  =  G d7
A Aolian. . . . . A~B^C~D~E^F~G~A  =  A d3 d6 d7
B Locrian. . . . B^C~D~E^F~G~A~B  =  B d2 d3 d5 d6 d7

These Modes used in conjuction with others
Cromatic, Hole tone, Diatonic Melodic Minor
Harmonic minor Pentatonic...
Make for infinitive possibilitys "Not to
mention Atonal"

The effect of these Modes on Chords are
1 3 5 8 major
1 d3 5 8 minor
1 3 5 7 major7
1 3 5 d7 dominint7
1 d3 5 d7 minor7
1 d3 d5 8 diminished
1 3 #5 8 augmented

So when aplied to chordal progression we get

C=I  D=II  E=III  F=IV  G=V  A=VI  B=VII  C=VIII
C      Dm7  Em7    F        G7      Am7    B*        C

My point.
Jazz, Classical & Heavy Metal
Require this knowledge.
Ingvay = Bach = Rhoades = Mozart = Harris / Thoroughgood  < Bathoven  > U2
